6 week old stressed when feeding

Hi everyone,

My DD has been bottle fed since birth with no problems. She has, up until now, been a great eater. Normally, as soon as she starts feeding, she puts her hands up to her face, lies there quite happly and takes half her feed, burps and then the other half.

For the past few days she has been fine with her morning feed and the last one at night but during the day she is completly stressed out every time she feeds. She seems to be gulping and clicking, talking a few mouthfulls and them crying and throwing her had about really roughly. I did change her formula about a week ago because of constipation but she seems to like it and the constipation issue is now sorted.

During the day, its now taking about an hour for her to take about half her normal feed, if even that and she is so exhausted by the end the she falls asleep. She naps for about 10 mins and is then up again and hungry.

She has been feeding regularly every two and a half hours, but recently she is just taking a few mouthfuls here and there all day. It's gotten to the point now where she is not taking full feeds during the day at all.

Have just fed her tonight before bed and it has taken almost 2 hours whereas normally it takes about 10 mins and she is then fast asleep. I am getting a bit worried now as her morning and night feeds are the only two good feeds she is taking.

Does anyone have any idea what might be going on? The past few days she has seemed so unhappy, they have just been constant crying. I know she is only 6 weeks but she has been so relaxed and happy up until now Sad

Ever considered cranial osteopathy?

Worked wonders for DS1 who only drank 1oz at a time before, and normal feeds after.

I have the exact same thing with DS - started about 5 weeks, before this he was a real milk monster.

Have tried everything, bottles, teats, calm dark room etc. My health visitor suggested silent reflux and am now adding infant gavison to feeds which seems to be working well so far. Apparently milk and acid travel back up the throat as they are drinking causing pain and making them arch and scream.

Maybe worth looking at? Also symptoms are similar for thrush?
