Can follow on milk cause constipation?

My DD2, who is 9.5 months old, has recently been suffering from really bad constipation. I think this coincided with the time I changed her to follow on milk (aptamil forward). Has anyone heard of formula milk causing these problems?

Also - I've tried prune juice for her, is there anything else I can give her?

Put her back on the milk that suited her. Follow on milk is a marketing device.

Yes formula milk can cause constipation whilst they are adapting to it. My HV advised cooled boiled water with a small amount of sugar dissolved in it. HTH.

It can do - it's heavier. There is honestly no need to use follow on and if she's 9.5 months you'll have her on cow's milk soon anyway won't you? Just put her back on the normal aptimil

I'm pretty sure follow-on milk has extra iron in it, which causes constipation in everyone.

I'm pretty sure you'd be fine putting her back on her previous milk. As bobbybob says, follow on milk is a marketing device - they can advertise it, but they can't advertise regular formula milk.

Pandabear, put her back to the regular Aptamil, wich contains as much iron as she needs. The extra iron can cause constipation. (And I should know, I was put on 2 iron tablets a day after I had ds3, never again!)
