Advice needed to keep feeding 1 year old

DD is Nearly 13 months

She feeds twice per day if I am work and more frequently if I am around

My problem is her latch on my right side since she got her 2 bottom teeth

I thought we were over it after a week or so of discomfort and then the pain returned

I have, now permanent, blister on my nipple (the top). And it is sore on the bottom where her teeth graze me

Have tried different positions but no joy - I also had my first ever bout of mastitis last week

My left side is fine

Is it possible to fed from one side only and maintain supply?

I want to feed until she is 2

Any advice would be gratefully received

yes, i know people who have done this. but you did to train her not to hurt you when she feeds because being nipped or grazed REALLY REALLY HURTS

rubyslippers · 25/10/2010 11:58

Thank you both

WRT to the grazing I think it is just she has two razor sharp teeth rather than she is doing anything on purpose

If she does bite or graze deliberately she is unlatched straight away

Am really trying to get her to have good nursing etiquette

I may feed from the left only today

It is reassuring to know I can feed from one side and carry on nursing

oh god, I was about to start almost this exact thread! DS is 13 months tomorrow, and has his 2 top teeth coming in, and they are really starting to grate. He's feeding 2-4 times a day (1-2 that I instigate, and at least 1 during the night), and I am starting to think about weaning him. I don't want to, but I'm getting annoyed with him more and more often. last night he was feeding for more than an hour - every time I tried to unlatch him, he screamed at me. I wasn't impressed.

got to go to nursery and feed him in a moment, but am glad I'm not alone in feeling sore at this age. It doesn't help that everyone in real life I mention it to just says I don't need to feed him now, so why not just stop. grr. good luck ruby :) (btw, it's arolf here - how's the sleep now? DS still up 1-2 times a night, it's bloody killing me :()

Hi arolf/kveta

How spooky that webare both having the same issue

Am pleased to say no night feeds - am happy to tell you how I did it as it was very good

I get met with Hmm looks that I am still feeding but I really want to

Anyhoo - the blister on my right nipple is so tender I could just cry

Weaning seems like a good option sometimes
