I had never heard of this until I accidentally came across some articles. They can in fact, breastfeed if they stimulate their nipples every day about 8 times a day (from nursing), for they have mammary and pituitary glands that will respond with detication. Eventually they will begin to lactate and can feed their little ones! CRAZY! Dont know how I feel about it but suppose it definitely not a bad thing but kinda strange. Looks like most examples of this were in the 3rd world where mama died in childbirth and paternal instincts set forth. Some were examples of fathers helping nurse twins, ect. Anyone ever known a man that nursed??

I don't know of anyone that has, but think that perhaps DH can pitch in and do the night feeds next time Grin

Dd2 has latched into daddy a few times. He was not impressed!

I was telling the manshape all about this when i was pregnant with DS3.

Poor love is now terrified of me getting too close to his nipples, bless him.

Are there any articles I can show DH? Grin

I can't help but think about Family Guy

just google it, you will find a bunch of things. I typed in images of breastfeeding and did not specify a gender. When pictures of men came up as well, I started researching further. That is when I found the actual stories. Just try to type in "true stories of men breastfeeding" or something like that, see what pops up.Smile

definitely one to promote, think of all the mums that are desperate for a night's sleep. although watching desparate housewives last night i am now wonedring if it would lead to and increase in post partum depression in males Grin

Wow!

TheGrumpalo · 25/10/2010 18:54

If only I'd have known when I was breastfeeding, it could have come in useful lol
