How long does it take my food to 'get through' my milk?

Not sure I know what you mean... food doesn't go straight through to the BM (I know you know that, I didn't mean literally chunks of chicken casserole coming out of your boobs...)

If you mean alcohol then I think it's 1-2 hours, and by the time its cleared out of you blood its cleared out of your BM too. Info here.

But food....?

I thought the idea that what you eat gets into you breastmilk was a bit of a myth?

HV told me it was 6 hours - after I sad DD was unusually unsettled one evening, she asked what I has eaten 6 hour before in case the flavour has passed though my milk and DD was not keen. She said it was only true of very strong flavours or very acidic foods. She also said drinking fennel tea can be calming when it comes though breast milk, but who knows if its true or not.

I was thinking in terms of strong foods or 'dodgy' foods like when a child has an intolerance.

Dd1 used to react to curry but I had one last night & dd3 hadn't bothered.
