Reasons to hate expressing 1,2,3...

A friendly place to rant away about the job that we wouldn't actually change

  1. I hate the way that I meticulously pour all the bottles from container to container..... because that extra drip will somehow magically add half an ounce. (and also how I get angry with DH for taking the same care and wasting SOOOOO much milk, otherwise known as a 1/16th oz)

  1. I hate the noise the machine makes, to me it sounds like mooooooo mooooooo mooooooo mooooooo

  1. When I very first started expressing I was doing it all the time because I couldn't get to grips with BFing proper. I used to sit alone in the middle of the night with the machine making a noise that sounded (to my exhausted, first-time-not-coping-at-all-mum ears) exactly like "Don't do it, don't do it, don't do it". And now when I express occasionally for dh to feed him that's all I can hear... not sure I'll ever get past it enough to produce a DC2!

I'm liking the expressing machines talking to you, the next time I'm at work I bet it's all I'll hear. I have also sworn that I will never express for DC2 (if there is a DC2) and I'll have at least 6 months of being a SAHM

When I first started to bf I had to express after every feed as I had low supply(DD prem and in hospital for first ten day so couldn't feed her). The MW didn't tell me that I only had to do this for about a week and I ended up doing it for a month, a little confused and yet determined to get a good supply. Stupid me, with DD feeding so often at the start I really was a factory cow for a month...nearly nearly gave up bf because of awful awful expressing!

i hate it because to get the best results i have to express at the same time as feeding ds, which makes my back ache and i don't have a spare hand to mumsnet.
