Breastfeeding diet

I am due in a few weeks time and plan to breastfeed. I was just wondering, with Christmas on the way, is it ok to indulge in foods that I am abstaining from in pregnancy?

I'm not too bothered about drinking but I would hate to have a Christmas without some good pate and blue cheese.

I have never abstained in what I eat during bf and it has never affected the way my bmilk might taste(or at least DD hasn't noticed) etc....and my favourite is curry. I am sure you can eat blue cheese and pate!!! Good luck for the next few weeks :-)

Oh and the odd glass of wine won't do the baby any harm either Smile

Lovely, that is definitely what I wanted to hear :)

Yep, you can have a smorgasboard of pate, blue cheese and runny egg the second the baby is out (just do your skin to skin at the same time, eh?)

I was eating goats cheese and pate in the hospital before DS was twelve hours old. Oh how I missed them Grin

Enjoy your Christmas, and yes, have a glass of wine or three too, if you want :)

The only thing I found that I couldn't have was lemonade! Everything else I ate and drank as pre-pregnancy. When breastfeeding you may well find that you lose weight whatever you eat, So you have a great excuse to indulge this Christmas!
