Have been trying to get my 7 month old to take a bottle of formula for over 6 weeks now and getting nowhere its driving me mad - any tips?

So far have tried everything I can think of - different bottles, cups, people, places, times, brands of formula, asleep and awake, teat size - but no luck - help please!

Have you tried MAM teats? These have worked for 90% of my friends in your situation.

No only Nuk and Avent so far - will try and get hold of some, thanks very much!

Will they take expressed milk?

Nope tried that too - so frustrating as he took EM from a bottle fine for the first 5 and a half months of his life then just stopped without warning

A lot of breastfed babies just skip the bottle and go straight to a cup - experiment with different types to see what's right for you and your LO.

I also had this problem. My DD would take a bottle of EBM for a dream feed for the first two months and when I stopped that feed, refused the bottle. This started at about 4 months. I tried so many bottles...and cups. I found that she would take a bit from the cups but the flow was so fast that she wouldn't take a full cup of milk as it overwhelmed her after a while. I just persisted with the bottle and tried it every lunchtime for a month until she gave in. I thought she would never take a bottle but it was ok in the end. I would try with a cup though as it may just be my DD who had trouble with it.(ps I taught her to practi ce with the cup by mixing homemade juice to ten parts of water as it encouraged her to try and use the cup...I don't need to do that now and she just takes water from it.) Good luck

Have you tried first thing in the morning? it took me ages to do this with dc2 as it was the last feed i wanted her to give up, but she was starving and guzzled a bottle having refused all the fanciest teats at other times of the day.I wouldn't try lots of different bottles and teats again.

Hi Ladies, thanks so much for taking the time to help me!So far have tried the first thing in the morning tip but no luck - this one is so strong willed! Persistence wise we have tried once or twice a day for 6 months, and got no where. Thanks for the tips re juice and MAM bottles, they are on order and am crossing my fingers!
