Not sure where this pain has come from

DD is 1

My right breast is painful - doesn't feel lumpy just tender

Have fed DD this morning and it wasn't too bad when I was feeding except her two bottom teeth graze my nipple (they don't on the left weirdly)

My breast feels warm but not overly so

Any tips or ideas? Doesn't feel like mastitis or a blocked duct (but I guess it could be)

TIA

I have had this a couple of times - really tender only one breast, last time I did get it checked out. I would just keep an eye on it, although it is Friday! What's the latest you can make a GP appointment?

rubyslippers · 15/10/2010 11:26

I can see if I can get an emergency appointment

Was apt the docs yesterday as am unwell and have a bad back - of course my boob was fine then

Do you think I should make an appointment then?

not sure...I was told to on here but the GP, while being very thorough seemed to think it was nothing (which it was). Apparently the technical term is "unexplained pain of nork" :o
I think if you're worried, and it's coming up to te weekend it can't hurt to get an appointment. Last thing you want is mastitis on a weekend.

Mine was very tender (no notable difference when feeding or not feeding) slightly red and slightly hot.

You would think after a year of feeding I would know what to do

Anyway, GP has no appointments but they will call ... Always the walk in centre though but that is grim

I have a blister on my nipple

Don't tell me after a year DD has latching issues?

Boob still hurts but am not feverish and I combed it in the shower ...

:(
Hope it is better in the morning
Did GP call?

Older nurslings can get a bit lazy in their latching technique, especially if they have teeth! I would encourage her to open her mouth wide, like a lion, before she latches on and make sure she isn't getting lazy and dragging the nipple out when she latches off. Try this and see if it helps. It did for DS who gets a bit lazy sometimes and leaves tooth indents in my areola and only on my right one for some strange reason! Grin

Thanks for asking Stealth - started to feel vey unwell last night

Gp called and prescribed ABs for mastitis

Nipple bleeding this morning

Thank you for tips about her latching - will try to encourage that
