Morning expressing affecting afternoon feeds?

Hi,

This is probably ridiculous but I'm wondering if expressing milk in the morning is affect the rest of DS's feeds through out the day.

He only does one night feed now, which like his other feeds only lasts for five minutes. That's great and I hope it continues.

The problem is that because he's only feeding from one breast at night, the other breast is engorged in the morning. Again, because of the five minute feeds, by about ten o'clock in the morning it feels like my breasts are about to explode.

So I thought that I would express after his morning feed to get rid of the excess milk thinking that my breasts would just make more. But it seems like on the days when I do this, by the afternoon my DS is feeding every hour and getting really frustrated with the flow.

Today I didn't express in the morning and he seemed a lot happier. Is it possible that my supply isn't there in the afternoon?

I've been avoiding giving him the bottle of expressed through out the afternoon, because I didn't want my supply to drop even more.

I'm not really sure what to do, he's been on one feed a night for weeks now, and I still seem to fill up at night. I thought that if he didn't feed then my supply would drop, but it doesn't seem to be happening.

I think you should stick with demand feeding and allow your breasts to juat settle and meet his demand naturally . I know its uncofortable in the morning but it really will settle .
Soundslike you have plenty of milk - enjoy him and please try not to worry /clock watch etc just feed on demand and trust your body x
