Breastflow bottles question

I was just hoping for some advice from people using Breastflow bottles.

My dd is starting at nursery soon and I'm going to be leaving her some expressed milk in a Breastflow bottle. I've just noticed that the lid which covers the teat has a hole in it so will leak if not kept upright. Do you just make sure you keep the bottles upright if transporting them or do you take the teat off and use the screw-on lid when transporting? And if so, how do you keep the teat sterile?

Sorry if this is a stupid question but I've not used bottles very often and I've no idea! Blush

I'd put the expressed milk in a separate container and nursery can transfer it to the bottle when needed

if you are giving her EBM then you dont need to keep the teat sterile as BM has antibac properties all of it own.

The most important thing is that the teat is clean of any milk residue and has been washed hot soapy water.

THat said i cant comment on the breastflow bottles at all. sorry.

I use the screw lids when transporting to avoid spillage. Though I transport the pump components not the bottle ones. tbh if the trip is short, then just store upright in bottles in a cool bag. How likely is it that things will be all moving around. (I get the bus, so a high probability)

As said above, you don't need to worry about it staying sterile, just ensure the bottle is stored in the fridge.

If DH is going to be out a while, he has all the milk in screw top (and thermal majiggy thing) and different bottles/cups for feeding which he transfers the milk into.

I love breastflow bottles because I find they never leak. Dd has one in her cot at night because when she drops off, the bottle will just lie there and she won't be lying in a pool of milk. So I'd be suprised if they did leak through the lid tbh. Oh and got 3more bottles yday in tkmaxx for £4 yday- selling the excess stock so worth keeping an eye on.

Are they BPA free the ones from tkmaxx?

I see Medela do a teat designed for BF babies too. Only seen it in the Mothercare catalogue though.
