Tandem feeding

I'm pregnant with DC2 and BF DS1. DS1 is dairy I tolerant and will be 20 months once DC2 arrives (providing all goes well).

I'm keen to carry on BF DS1 until he's 2 as he can't have dairy (or soya) but with DC2 worrying I'm letting myself in for trouble. I remember the early weeks of DS1 and it felt like he fed non stop at times!

Hopefully by then, DS1 will be down to two feeds a day...

Can any tandem feeders talk me through the logistics of feeding a newborn and toddler?

Also I'm worried about my milk supply dropping and having to switch to hypoallergenic formula as DS can't have cows milk/soya. Did this happen to anyone?

Thanks

Hello! I'm not quite there yet, I'm 21 weeks with DC2 and still feeding 2 yo DD 4 or 5 times a day (or more at the moment because she's got some teeth coming).

I was recommended this book and it is brilliant, lots of info about nutrition for the pregnant mother and pictures of tandem feeding so you know who sits where Grin

I've not had a problem with my supply as far as I know, certainly had no complaints from DD. She has been eating more solids but then that might be down to the growth spurt she's put on.

Good luck, hope all goes well :)

Thanks jem

eau I'll check that book out. I'm glad to hear your milk is ok - gives me some hope! DS is such a milk monster, I'm not sure how he'll cope without Grin

I'm tandem bf at the moment. I bf my smallest on the move at home by holding her in my arms & when dd (who was just two at the time my smallest was born)she'd just ask & I'd sit down or if I was sitting down she'd just come over for a feed. Now she's bigger 3yrs she only asks to bf when she thinks of it. This morning I was sitting down bf and my 3yr old just asked for a feed so fed both. She lies against me whilst the little one is on my lap.
