Unsettled during the night at 8 weeks

My 8 week old bf boy is a pretty good sleeper as far as I can tell. He's bathed in the evening at abou 6.30 then feeds before falling asleep about 8ish. He's up again about midnight then feeds asleep again until about 3. After feeding him again he looks as though he's asleep but the wriggles and snorts and generally sounds awake but isn't until about 5.30 when he starts chewing hi fists, so I feed him again until he dozes off. I'm just wondering (as a newbie mum) whether he's still hungry during this restless period (although I've fed him until he seemed content) or is it just what babies do. As he's right next to me in his basket it means I don't sleep after he wakes at 3 until he's settled again at 6.30. Maybe that doesn't sound so bad for this age and I'm not moaning, I'm just worried that I'm doing something wrong. We had trouble feeding at the start and am still using shields (another story) but he feeds fine and is growing well. Any advice out there?

Sounds normal to me. My DD does the sleepy arm waving too, so I sometimes swaddle her so I can fall back to sleep. Doesn't always work though!

My ds is a noisy/active sleeper too! Not sure what particular phase of the night it is, but he groans and moans, wriggles about and sometimes cries - still sound asleep though. If he's woken hungry it's pretty obvious.

If tend to look over to check if he's awake and if not go back to sleep, so his noise doesn't disturb me too much.

Thanks. Good idea with the swaddling. Will give it a go. I'm a pretty light sleeper so it's probably just that I need to get used to it, I'm just always anticipating him needing to be fed so it keeps me awake. Will see how tonight goes :)
