I am going to the dentist next week. I know I need a filling probably a silly question but if I have a filling etc is there any problem with breast-feeding? I am nervous enough without worrying about this!

I had a filling when I was BF, but the stupid dentist didn't know wether it was safe to have the injection... so I had it done without an injection, very painfull, so do try and find out before hand... I am not sure who could help you though! Maybe you have a good dentist who knows what he is talking about??? Good Luck! xxx

Useful info here

No need to avoid local anaesthetic - the clue is in the name, anyway. It is local, not systemic, so cannot get anywhere near the milk :)

And, frankly, pathetic of the dentist not to even know......dear oh dear.

I had to have a filling replaced whilst bf-ing: the one that needed to come out had probably been "leaking" for a while, but the dentist still did the procedure using a dental dam to minimise my exposure to amalgam.

If you are worried, you can get a white filling ((not covered by NHS): no mercury, and less visible in the mouth.

Oh thank god. I thought it would be ok but then had a middle of the night panic lol
Now all i need to worry about is the filling ! ( there needs to be a pathetic smilie!)

My dentist told me I'd need to pump and dump for 24 hours but he was talking bollocks - you'll be fine.
