Not sure about the ring - they may have changed the design since I used them - but I found that if I screwed the lid on too tightly with warm milk, it would leak (bizarre but true); also I used to have to sort of ensure that the screwing on was deep enough and try it a couple of times. It can feel like the collar is on properly when it isn't. Finally, check that the teat has been pulled into the collar properly - again, if not, they'll leak.

I'm making the bottles sound really troublesome but I still think they're the best ones.

yes, you are doing the bottle up to tight. They leak when they are done up too tight.

You have to do it up so that it is about 9 10ths tight if that makes sense. I used to do it up tight and then give it a little turn the other way. They worked fine then, no leaks.

God I forgot about that! I used Avent for both DDs and it's a lottery when you screw the lid on- will it piss milk out from the neck seal or will it not? I used to stand there unscrewing, slamming the top on the side of the sink to eject all the milk in the screw threads then trying again... Bloody things, but they don't build a vacuum up inside and I couldn't afford to chuck them all and replace so I kept using them.

It did get down to a fine art, screwing it on tight but not too tight, not too loose, just right Confused

ok thanks... thats so counter-intuitive though...

Those ring ones are a mare. Hate it when those are the only ones left in the steriliser.
