Hi
I am ebf my son who is 5 months old I think I may have post-natal depression I am off to see the doctor week after next (this was the first appointment I could get)
Anyway before that I thought I would try some herbal stuff and bought some st johns wort.
I have googled my socks off and found really contradictory advice about taking it and breastfeeding it may incude colic and
Drowsiness in babies or it may have no effect at all.
Was just wondering if anyone had personal experience or taking it and any effects it had on babies.

Thanks

Think of St Johns Wort as a medicine (as that's what it is). Would you take any other medicine while BF without being 100% sure that it's not going to harm your baby?

I was told you can call the NCT breastfeeding helpline to check if medicines are okay to use. Might be worth a try if you are unsure.

Good idea I'll give them a call
