DS2 is on Neocate (dairy intolerance) and takes ranitadine for silent reflux. He is 13 weeks old.

However, he will only take 20 oz of milk a day (and that is a struggle in itself). His brother at this age was taking 32 oz of milk a day. When about 3 weeks old, he was on aptimel and taking 7oz a feed. Now on Neocate (for about 5 weeks) he only takes 4-5oz a feed!

He is gaining weight (currently 7 kg), but he is starting to drop the centiles.

Is Neocate a disgusting-tasting formula? Can it be flavoured e.g. sweetened? Would this encourage my DS to drink more? I am worried that he may become dehydrated and continue to loose weight.

Has anyone else experience o

Hi addicted, no real help I'm afraid, yes wanted to bump for you really.
I'm pretty sure no formula can be sweetened but I do think there are other types of allergy formula available - nutramigen is one I've heard mentioned before, maybe you could find out if he could try that?

Hi addicted

Comparing your DS to his brothers may not be helpful, as different babies grow at different rates and from different starting points. Dropping centiles is not necessarily a danger sign, and you should know that there are dangers associated with over-feeding too, which includes strengthening/sweetening formula.

But please, please talk to your doctor about this, they are much better placed to judge whether your DS is healthy and advise on formula use.

Good luck!
