Does reducing calorie intake affect breastmilk production?

DD(DC3) is 4months old and EBF. I have made some changes to my diet in the last week incl. reduced portion sizes, cutting out cakes and reducing refined starches in an effort to eventually lose some weight. Think we had a growth spurt last week. We have no real routine as such except that she has thankfully been a great sleeper at night. She drinks every 1-2hrs in the day, has huge wet nappies but tends to poo weekly Smile.

I'm worried that my supply has reduced in the last week but can't see how this fairly small change in diet can do this. I know there are also other reasons for this apparent reduction in supply but just wondered what other people's experiences are?

Cutting out cakes?! Shock Grin

There's a lot of good info on Kellymom.com about this, here's a page that might help you out-

I haven't reduced my diet at any point but DD's milk intake has increased as she got older (and then reduced again as she started eating more solids) and I've not adjusted my diet at any point. Make sure you drink plenty though.

I know, miss the cakes terribly but have started gaining weight ShockBlush. Thanks for the link, think I think I may have overdone it a little and should add in maybe a coupe of cakes a week. Yay!
