I am still bf my 11 month old twice a day and my depression has returned.
Is citalopram safe (cipramil) . I have 2 months supply so could start immediately and then arrange to see my GP

I was proscribed citalopram when ds was 2 months old and he was fully breastfed to 6 months and still has a breastfeed at night now that he is 16 months old. I came of these meds 14 days ago. All I can say is that it appears to have had no effect on ds. It's your choice but what I will say is that my depression was such that if I hadn't taken the medication I doubt that ds and i would have bonded and he would have been the happy, confident and normal boy that he is today.

It's a real dilemma and I guess if your depression is mild maybe you could explore natural remedies or treatments that would not effect your milk supply. If this does no good then consider the citalopram.

Hope this helps.

Thankyou mamajinks,
I have now started taking them so we'll see how it goes. I really don't know what's wrong with me although I tend to feel much worse in hot weather
