Brest Feeding and Biting

Hi,

My four month daughter has just got two teeth, well just breaking through the top of her gums. In the last week she has taken to biting me when breastfeeding.

I have tried to say no, take her off my breast and lay her down and then put her back on later. I have had to resort to now feeding her for a shorter time more frequently so that when I feel she is getting full and less interested in food; I am taking her off. She does not like nipple shields and as she is exlusively breast feed does not like bottles. I have started to dread feeding her and get quite anxious and tense as I just watch her and wait for signs of when I think she might bite me. I do want to continue breastfeeding but I am getting more and more anxious and stressed and wondered if anyone had any tips for me or advice.

Thanks

My DS bit me when his teeth were breaking through too, but it only lasted about a week. Once they were properly through the gum it stopped. I'm not sure he was actually biting though, more that they were just sticking in me as he latched on. Once he got used to them in his mouth the problem just went away - not to say that it didn't bloody hurt in the meantime. I began to dread feeds and was in tears more than once. Here's hoping for you.....!
