Hi
I've got 5wk to go before DC2 arrives & I am more determined than ever before to successfully BF! 1st time round I think I just had huge trouble with latching on even though I had 2 midwives & HV check latch! As a result I had bits of nipple hanging off & had to express & never made it back to BF. Reluctantly switched to FF as had a baby that didn't sleep for more than 20mins, was rather miserable & having to express as well as bottle feed just got too much for me.
My nips have white areas on them which I belive is scar tissue. Will putting a bit of Lansinoh on now help get them ready for use!
Thank you

As I understand, Lansinoh helps with healing the nipples once damaged but I don't think it would prevent damage iyswim?

It's really good stuff for 'moist healing' though, I would definitely not still be bfing now without it.

The best thing you can do is contact a professional lactation consultant/ bfing counsellor asap after birth to help with the latch and limit the damage in the first place.

I've nearly given up many times and on each occasion it has been my lactation consultant that has saved bfing for me.

Having said that, if you want to put lansinoh on now to see if it helps with scarring etc it certainly won't do any harm!

Good lick! :-D

Thanks Dalrymps. With DS1 our nearest bfeeding counsellor was 50min drive away & I just never managed to get to her & it was the Easter hols & she had young kids at home so couldn't get to me. However on the two occassions I did speak to her on the phone (loudspeaker with my mum there to assist) I had no pain with feeding!!! I'll definitely research if there's one nearer now (although we live in same place!) and if not I will certainly travel to see her this time. With DS1 I had a very long & difficult labour ending in emer csect & DS only slept for 20mins at a time so I really wasn't with it!! This time will be different!
Might give Lansinoh a go a week before due!
