Hi,

The leaflet for BM storage says I have to transfer EBM out of the collection container (e.g. the pump's bootle) into a different container for storage - why? Is this necessary? As my pump suggests I express directly into a freezer bag I don't see how this is possible? Will be gutted if it is as I'll have to waste the 60ml I managed to get this morning as I just stuck it straight in the fridge in the bootle I collected it in.

Ah - the leaflet is referencing the collection 'jug' and saying that should not be used - but as I express straight into a sterile bootle with a lid then this must be ok?

I'm sure that's fine. With the pump I used I always expressed directly into the sterile bottle, but a teat and lid on it and whacked it into the fridge for use later that day.

I buy breastmilk freezer pouches from Boots for freezing ebm. Theyre quite expensive though.

When im putting it in the fridge though i just put a lid on the bottle ive expressed into.

sounds a bit weird! would imagine the leaflet's just badly worded.

as others have said - if i'm using the milk soon then I just chuck bottle (i've pumped into) in the fridge, if I'm freezing it then I pour into boots breastmilk bags

Yep, the same as CakeandRoses.
I have put a bottle in the freezer before and milk was fine.
