Fussy feeding?

My 5 wk old sometimes fusses whilst bfeeding. He'll come off the boob crying, straightens his back, waves his arms and legs about and shakes his head. He doesnt do this with every feed but esp night times.

I read it could b thrush... what are the symptoms?

Sometimes when he pulls away the milk sprays so could it just b fast milk flow?

Kellymom info on fussy feeders here.

Often unsettledness in young babies peaks around 6-8 weeks so it could be that, especially if he does it more at night.

Thrush info from Kellymom here.

I'd say if he doesn't do it all the time it's unlikely to be thrush, besides you'd be in agony if it were thrush - it's bloody painful!

If he pulls off mid-flow then milk can spray whatever the strength of the flow, so I wouldn't think that would be the cause of his fretting.

More likely just general baby fussiness (always worse at night) - could be colicky / wind related in which case this usually eases up by 8 weeks, until teething kicks in and it all gets crazy again! Grin Sorry there's no magic solution - but it will get better, just keep on going, sounds like you're doing really well!
