The text says 'Yes to healthy food'

Love it!!

highlander · 02/09/2005 18:43

aw, that is sooo cute

Twiglett · 02/09/2005 18:52

I am not sure if I find that too exploitative tbh

Twiglett · 02/09/2005 18:53

I hasten to add that as a mother on a parenting website I find the picture lovely .. but as a marketing tactic or as something designed to sway opinion towards the green party I feel it is lacking somewhat

Hi HF! Am back from Berlin on Tuesday - drowning in work for the first week or so, but how about finally meeting up after that?

Not sure what you mean Twiglett?
(Hasten to add I'm not affiliated to them or any party in fact - can't vote anyway )

I think Twiglett means, she doesn't like seeing BF used to advertise stuff - the Green Party are exploiting BF to advertise themselves. (I'm sure the Greens are pro-BF, but this advert isn't about that, is it, really.) It's much like using nearly-nekkid ladies to sell a car.

Cute pic though.

  • - is it holiday? Have a lovely time and I'll be in touch middle of the month-ish.

NQC, thanks, see what you mean now Twiglett. It does seem a touch cynical to be using it in an election campaign. Although, I can't help thinking - surely anything which shows bf in a good light (assoc with 'healthy food') is good? BF is in a somewhat better position in Germany than in the UK (particularly bf in public - I've bf all over the place, in cafes, public transport, park benches etc. etc. and have never had an eyelid batted at me), but support is really not all that good. When I had ds in a German hospital this year I was under a lot of pressure to supplement and did in the end. I'll never know whether it was really medically necessary or whether it contributed to our subsequent (but happily overcome) problems. Have also been threatened with formula when ds was having a phase of slightly slow weight gain. Also, the bf breaks working mothers are legally entitled to are pretty hopeless if you're demand feeding (have fortunately not been in that position, but have looked into this a bit).
