Mixed fed, 6 weeks old tomorrow - growth spurt?

Sorry for those who've heard the history on previous chats. DD2 is doing really well, growing loads and nearly out of her 0-3month clothes. In great contrast to her elder sister who fell off all of the charts and at 12 weeks weighed what DD2 did at week 4.

Long story short - DD1 failed at breast feeding. She was a lazy feeder and only 'took off' when i switched to formula. DD2 decided to mix feed early on as I wasn't coping with all the feeds and she was hungry. The plan was to slowly move to exlusive formula feeds but so far 6 weeks down and we're still in mixed feeds with 4 from me a 3 bottles (1 mid morning, 1 mid afternoon, and 1 late evening).

On a plus side the hour or so of crying in colic type pain after each bedtime feed stopped last night. But I fed her before bath, and afterwards as per usual and then went to put her down to bed as she was calm but she wouldn't settle. It had been the same the night before and I'd wondered if she was hungry as she basically only went to sleep if cuddled on me or DH for hours and basically conked out.

Last night and tonight she'd fed as usual from me but as still not settled I offered her some formula and she's taken about 50ml. Not a great deal but enough to make her conk out to sleep. Anyone else experienced this?

Before you ask - I offered formula as she was sucking and not getting any more from me at this feed (no gulping sound etc and just making me sore).

I've let her feed from me for a while at each of these feeds without getting any milk thinking it'll help increase the supply if that's the issue. Plus, I've been conscious to drink more and try to sleep when possible as I've been shattered.

Is this going to be my night time pattern or is it just a passing phase?

I'm wondering if tonight and last night's behaviour is a growth spurt. Ideas please?

Lots of babies do have a 6 week growth spurt - my DS did. It lasted a week and a half in our case. He was much fussier at feeding during it too and extra difficult to get to sleep. He cried more too.

Yes, letting her keep feeding from you will help boost your supply even if she's just comfort sucking. She's putting in the order for more milk to be delivered. :)
