Speechless HV

Took newborn DD2 for a weigh in at the local baby clinic this morning and during the visit 2 year old DS was nursing. Not usual for him to ask out and about but he is under the weather at the moment with a bad cold and needing more attention with the arrival of DD2.

HV asked standard questions about DD2 and said she assumed that I was breastfeeding DD2 and I said yes. She asked about my 4 year old DD1 and asked if I breast fed her and then asked how long did I feed her for. I said I still am, isn't that great (with a nice smile)

HV was speechless.

She just got her diary and Arranged to see me tomorrow for DS 2 year old check and went on to the next mum.

I wonder if she'll bring it up again tomorrow. I might ask her what she thinks about toddlers nursing.

HV seemed quite supportive of 2 year old DS nursing. I think me nursing three including an school aged child and was a bit much for her, but I am very impressed that she wasn't negative.

Oh well, at least you're doing your bit to normalise full term BFing for her :D

Stupid question - if BFing 2 is tandem feeding, what's BFing 3 called? Blush

"what's BFing 3 called?"
I have no idea. :)

Grin I'm not surprised she was speechless, it is rather unusual BE but good for you, and good for your children!

Babieseverywhere · 07/09/2010 15:54

TBH I have been hoping DD1 would of weaned by now but with the arrival of her baby sister and starting reception, I think it will be a few more months weeks yet.

jemjabella · 07/09/2010 16:03

I was leaning towards triandem so I wasn't far off.

Not that this is in any way important Hmm I'll shut up now.

Babieseverywhere · 07/09/2010 16:12

I'll bet you gave her something to talk about at her tea break!

...can I hijack a little and ask what your children call it? Do they all call it the same thing? My DS says "mulk!" very assertively and with a little excited chuckle every time he says it (he only has about 30 words as he is 17months)...

MoonFaceMama · 07/09/2010 18:14

Wow! That's amazing! I would want to re name my nipples, tripples. Smile Please come back and tell us what the hv says tomorrow! Grin
