Hi,
I have a 4 week old dd. I think she may have reflux she is often quite sick following each feed, during feeding she sometimes writhes around, if I lie her down flat following a feed she makes funny retching noises and will often throw up more. At the moment I am having to sit up with her upright on my chest for 30mins-1hour after each feed which is meaning I am not getting much sleep and I am worried that she will get into the habit of falling asleep on me and I am setting myself up for trouble getting her to sleep in the future.
Any hints/tips greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Have you seen your GP about it?

this may help

My personal experience was horrific, diagnosis is mainly through treatment, the swing saved me and my baby!!

(it's a support thread for refluxy babies and parents!!)

I can sympathise. DS was like this until he was weaned, still can be a bit sicky now at almost a year. The worst bit was 0-6 months. Can you stick something under the cot/moses basket so it is at an angle instead of dead flat, or put her down on her side instead on her back (I know this is against all the SIDS guidelines though). A dummy really helped DS, apparently the sucking stimulates saliva and helps digestion. He went to sleep on me every night for 9 months, and is now a champion sleeper who will sleep 7-7 and can be put awake into his cot. He is also off the dummy. The doctor can prescribe some medication to help if you get really concerned-I went and sobbed at the doctor after he screamed for a whole day and ate virtually nothing. They do grow out of it and it does get better, although it may not feel like it at the moment-I counted every second until 6 months!

going to see the GP today after no sleep last night. The poor thing spent all night retching and I could hear her having to swallow the reflux, she also isn't eating as much now. Have tried propping up the end of her mattress but she just ends up in a ball at the end of her bed which worries me more than the reflux because of SIDS. She has also started making these grunting type noises when she is lying flat. Hopefully the GP will help.
Thanks for your advice
