Extended BF and contraception?

Hi,

For various reasons I need to start taking the contraceptive pill soon, but I am still BF my 2 year old DS. Not much anymore, only before bed and first thing in the morning. Not sure how much he is really getting.

I need to go to see my GP soon, and would like some facts about which if any pill would be best under the circs, as I am not convinced they would know.

Any info or links gratefully received!

I think the only concerns about the combined pill and BF are over its possible effect on supply, which shouldn't be a significant issue now your DS is 2. But if you want to be on the safe side supply-wise then the mini-pill is less likely to have an effect (you normally need to be more precise about when you take it, though, and it's generally less reliable - Cerezette theoretically an exception to both of those, but I've seen a suspiciously high number of Cerezette babies on MN given the official reliability figures).
