6 week growth spurt

Hi,

My DS has just gone past 6 weeks and his feeding is all over the place. He used to feed every 2-3 hours for 25 minutes on one breasts and then 15 on the other, but over the last few days I haven't been able to get him to feed for more than 15 minutes at a time on one breasts.

He's not feeding at regularly either, some days he wants to feed every hour, then goes to feeding every 4 hours and then back to every hour or two again.

Is this normal for the 6 week growth spurt? I've tried to get him to take more in one sitting but he fights against me or if he does take it, he just ends up being sick when I wind him.

Didn't want to leave your post unanswered but not sure I can really help much. My DD2 is 9 weeks and we had the 6 wk spurt and she went from feeding every 2-3hours to feeding every 45mins-1hr, it was awful Sad but she did go back to feeding every 2-3hrs after it.

I wake DD2 if she is asleep and its 3 hours since she last fed to try to keep my vague cycle of feed-play-sleep going in a 3 hour loop so not sure if some days she would go longer. I guess its a bit like us though, one day for lunch you might fancy a big bowl of pasta and the next day you might just want a yoghurt - maybe he is just more hungry on some days??

I do try to keep a routine too... I try to feed him every 3 hours but am ending up feeding soon due to his feeding ques (smacking his lips, chewing his fist, snuffling etc).

Thanks for the reply
