Having trouble using the pump or formula

I want to introduce one bottle either in the mornign or evening for my daughter (she is three weeks old). The reason being that I am totally exhausted and cant sleep in the day because of the older children so if my husband could feed her either last thing at night of first thing in the morning so I could get a few hours all in one go it would really help. Last night for example she slept from 9pm-11pm then was awake from 11-1:30 then woke again at 3 and was awake until 4:30 then woke again at roughly 6-6:30 and was feeding until my older children woke at 7:30. Im so tired and the feeds dont seem to be getting any shorter as the days go on.
very soon I will have to be working again in the day as well, my husband and I run a business and we cant afford for me to take a loing time off and although I will have her with me and can feed her whenever I want it is more the lack of sleep that is really the issue.

We tried introducing a bottle of formula, we tried sma 3 times which made her very sick and aptamil which had the same effect.

I have an electric pump but I can never get enough for her to have in a feed, at most i get maybe 1.5 ounces which barely touches the sides with her, she takes it but then cries for more which is no good. The main problem is that she feeds so often whenever I use the pump it only really the leftovers of what she had - if I pump before she feeds I end up with a screaming baby pulling and clawing at me

we share a bed and I have got the hang of feeding her lying down but would still really like to be able to have my husband feed her once a day.

What pump do you have? The only pump I could get a decent amount with was the medela swing I also had to express after the first feed of the morning to get the best quantity and then refrigerate.

Have you ever been on kellymom it might give you some more tips to try.

She is only 3 weeks though and it is such early days, she sounds fairly normal for a 3 week old. Although as you have children already you probably know this, her feeds will settle down in a while and her night wakings.

This too shall pass lovely x

try pumping one side while she feeds from the other it is still early days and your supply won'y have settled yet so in a couple of weeks you will probably be able to pump more.
i also reccomend medela swing i got nothing form the tommee tippee eletric pump or the avent one.

Are you hand pumping whilst expressing or after expressing? This can double the amount of milk you collect apparently.

Doh, meant to say "are you hand expressing whilst pumping or after pumping?" Blame the pregnancy brain!
