Pain in left breast

I have had a gnawing pain in one area of my left breast for the last 2 days. DD now 10weeks have started sleeping 6-8hour stetches at night and I think this started after the fullness of the first few nights of this. No redness visible and can't feel any lumps but the let down feeling more pronounced from there as well. Do not feel unwell but the pain is irritating and persistent. Could it be a blocked duct and if so how do I get rid of it?

It could be a blocked duct, although usually you'd start to feel ill after a couple of days. If it is one, then you need to get out the hot flannels, hold against the affected area, then feed DD out of that side (or pump) immediately afterwards. Also try gently massaging towards the nipple during the feed or while expressing. Take some nurofen to reduce swelling, and keep on with the hot flannels! As hot as you can bear it! If neccessary focus on emptying the left boob at the expense of the right for a few feeds. If it carries on then maybe try and ring a breastfeeding support councillor

if you notice any hot patch or redness then get yourself down the docs!

Thanks, massaging has eased it. I think the affected area is quite deep, hence me not being able to feel any lump. Hopefully it will continue to improve. Was worried about mastitis - had it with ds1 and ds2 but thankfully no sign of this.
