hungry baby milk-does it work?

My 14w old is mixed fed formula and breast. Has formula in and evening and night so mother/DH can help and I get to do bathtime with ds1 etc. Anyway he is still often wanting feeding 2 hourly in the night.

Does hungry baby milk work and is it ok with breast feeding? Also would it be ok to use sma gold in day and white at night when I stop feeding myself?

I used sma white when dd was 3 weeks, it did fill her up beter than the gold and she slept for longer, why not give sma white day and night? i dont think its a good idea to mix white and gold, if you fill him up in the day maybe he will sleep beter at night.

yes hungry baby milk does work.... and does seem to fill them up more

i think its something to do with one is made with 'curds' the other with 'whey' and i think it takes longer to digest the 'whey' so they are full for longer (thats my understanding anyway!)

Worked for Dd but beware...can cause constipation - in my experience anyway.

put dd on farleys hungrier at 3 weeks, and it made all the differnce, went to sleeping through and only waking for 1 feed. It is true does give bit of constiation but if you are breast feeding as well i would assume that would help. all the best. x

I tried it once in the evening when breastfeeding ds1 and it was a nightmare. He woke up screaming in pain and straining in the middle of the night. The HV told me never to use it can't quite remember why now (it was almost 5 years ago). A few months later I tried him with SMA Gold and he was fine.

Did not go well. Had 8ox sma white at 7pm last night. 4oz at 930 and another 4 at midnight. Really unsettled till 2am and then woke wanting feeding again at 4am!

Down to only 2 breast feeds a day now and unsure whether to stick with the sma white or go back to gold. Thanks for the advice!

Are you sure your lo is hungry at night and not just using the bottle to get back to sleep again? If your lo is used to falling asleep on the bottle at the start of the night, he will look for the bottle in the night when he wakes as he doesnt know how to settle back to sleep by himself. I would work on him being very sleepy but still awake when he goes to bed and this should help him learn to settle himself when he wakes in the night.
