Changes in passing stools

My dd is 19 weeks old and up until Monday was passing stools every day. However suddenly she didn't do anything on Mon and Tues and finally passed on Weds morn. I know she's not constipated because the stools are still soft and the right colour etc (the things we write about now that we have kids!!) but all during the day, when ever she feels like she needs to go, she strains and gets very frustrated and upset. Again today she hasn't done one and all during the day she has fussed - which often doesn't help when she's going down for a nap.

I have tried massaing her tummy. Is there anything else I can do to help her?

Not an expert in this firld!!! But...babies dont always go every day, they strain even if they are not in difficulty..kind of practicing for the harder times!!!
Are you breast or bottle feeding?

Hi there ds now almost 3 only went 3-4times a week from about 8 weeks old until he was around 2 1/2, once i got over the period of thinking someting was wrong, it was kind of handy & cheaper on nappies!! He was perfectly healthy some babies just don't need to go every day. Hope that helps

Thank you. Reassuring to know that she might not be in as much discomfort as the grunting and straining sounds. I am just breast feeding but over the last 4 weeks have had to start topping up the 10.30pm expressed milk with 1-2 oz of formula.

formula may change her motions!!
Breastfed babies dont need a drink but sometimes formula fed babies could do with some cool boiled water. You could maybe try this.
