switching from bf 2 bottle - uncomfortable baby

Having persevered with bf for 12 weeks with my refluxy little boy, he's not putting on weight so doc & hv advise introducing formula. Have done 1 bottle a day for 4 days, and have just introduced 2nd bottle. He seemed quite settled on 1 bottle [although clearly struggling to poo!]. Just had awful night with him only going 2.5 hrs ish before waking in much discomfort, crying and crying. Then feeds for ages. Lots of farts and burps.

Anyone else experienced this when switching to formula? Any suggestions for helping him out. Its so sad to see him in such a state.

:(

Sleep, I can't advise you sorry as I have no experience of reflux or ff but hopefully someone with more experience will be here shortly.

In the meantime, why don't you give NCT Breastfeeding Helpline a call as they should know about slow weight gain, reflux and formula?

Also, have a look at what Kellymom has to say about weight gain.

Is he on any medication? And also what formula is he on?

I have just started ds ( 5 weeks ) on Gaviscon (he has just been diagnosed with reflux), and switched from b'feeding to formula (for many many reasons). He is having half and half expressed milk and formula.

I know when I switched dd1 to formula, it took about a week for her to settle down, her poos to become more consistent etc.
