5 week old ds, being fed a mix of formula and ebm.

Just been diagnosed with reflux, and has been put on gaviscon.

I wondered if anyone found any formula better for reflux (I know they are all pretty much the same, but sometimes they suit different baies).

Any experience/advice re reflux welcomeSmile

you can get Enfamil ar on prescription, it differs to the comercial ones in that it doesn't thicken until it gets contact with the acid in babys tummy. my DS is on it as well as domperidone (an antiemetic stops vomiting) and renatadine (for the acid) we found gaviscone didn't help very much and when we put it in the milk to thicken it, DS wouldn't take it at all. only draw backs so far of enfamil ar are difficulty winding, must get trapped in the thick gloopy milk in his tummy and when he is sick its really thick and lumpy and he has choked and required manually clearing. but he is happier and the weight loss has stopped, not gaining much yet but at least going in the right direction.

Hi there,
SMA Staydown caused awful difficulties for our DD when it came to pooing, lots of screaming and straining. Bless her, she was really distressed.
On other hand, if your LO likes it, it's really convenient because you make it with refrigerated water, rather than heated, so you can keep a big bottle of boiled water in the fridge and make up feeds on the spot.
