Really worried and a bit scared..

My 8 wk old is bottle fed, and has always been a bit of a difficult feeder. Usually at 3 ounces she pulls off and gets in a right state, before settling down quite nicely and having another few oz after 5--10 mins and a nappy change. I've always though it's just temper/impatience/boredum.

But the last few days she just doesn;t want to feed. Or rather she does, but then will only take an oz or two. She's really restless at nap times, presumably as she's hungry.

I've been worried about dehydration, so I've given her water here and there, and she takes this fine, seems to enjoy it.

She's fine in herself, bubbly and bright. I did wonder about reflux or something else causing discomfort, but she has no symptoms to speak of. Nappies nice and wet (the water I guess.

She's having less than half what she was. I know that all babies go through hungry phases and not so hungry phases, but I'm really worried. I know she'll be up loads in the night too, which isn't helping my state of mind.

Does anyone have any ideas??

bumping for you

THe main thing is to watch out for wet nappies and whether she seems alert enough in herself.

YOu could try giving her more formula instead of offering water - so offering little and often.

My little one was like this. HV suggested trying C &G comfort, its thicker so need bigger teats and we had some terrible looking nappies for a week or so, but after that settled down and was like a different boy!

Have a chat with your HV and check weight etc and go from there. I remember worrying myself sick about it, and looking at my stocky 2 yrs old it seems like a distant memory

Have you tried changing the teat size?
