Breastfeeding 3rd child, there was query over this one having 'posterior tongue tie' when she had difficulty latching on, I had very sore nipples etc. They didnt operate as things got better. Now she is 3 weeks, feeding improved but I can hear her gulping air when she sucks - after 5 mins she is so windy she pulls off, then spend ages winding her, only for her to do it again..then finally so tired she falls asleep only to wake up hungry after an hour or two & whole cycle carries on.........HELP!!!

It might be worth while speaking to your Health Visitor about having your LO referred to have her tongue-tie corrected. Having said that, she is still very young and as she grows, she may grow out of it (so-to-speak) and the tie becomes less of a problem when feeding. In the meantime, if you decide to grin and bear it, using Infacol before every feed will help her rid her ingested air a lot more easily.

Thanks Laylise, have chatted to her this morning, she has suggested various strategies, was hoping we could avoid getting the tongue tie cut...

FWIW i had my DDs tongue tie cut at 5 weeks due to clicking and gulping air and it made a big difference. It was also much less traumatic than i had anticipated. Not a single drop of blood and just 10 seconds worth of crying. Hope things improve for you.

Thanks Pooter, that is reassuring, will bear in mind if things dont improve.
