no longer bf... panic!

I stopped feeding my DD2 last week.

She continuously bf through the night (co sleeping) and had been doing so since she was about 5mo. I was tired and a bit fed up. We made it to 15mo so I am very proud of us.

I've been feeling very strange since she's settled down - anxious and disconnected from the world almost, it's really odd. Anyway I was in bed last night and a little milk came out of my boob; I literally felt like I was falling into a big black hole - I feel sick, I'm getting panic attacks and I am so emotional I don't know what to do - is it quite normal??

Hi floozie - didn't want your message to go unanswered. Well done for getting to 15mo and sorry you're feeling like this.

When I stopped bf DS (at 8mo) I felt very weepy for the first week or so. I think it is normal and will settle down as your hormones sort themselves out.

I felt horrible for the first week or so, really tired and down, but then after about two or three weeks I felt much better and had more energy than before.

Having said that, panic attacks not good - would you consider talking to your HV or GP?

Sorry I'm not much help - hopefully someone more useful will be along soon.

Hang in there x x

Thanks Bicnod, it?s reassuring to know that it?s something at least one other person has been through.

I used to get panic attacks about 10 years ago and managed to ?self help? my way out of it ? having said that a quick chat with the GP might well be in order, I think a chat about my general wellbeing is a great idea.

It?s weird, I?m suddenly really panicky about everything to do with the children (2 dds) I constantly question everything almost like I?m expecting to drop dead at any second ? it?s so out of character!
