BF baby poo - is this normal?

DD is 11 days old now, and I think I've turned a corner with feeding her - only one nipple is cracked and sore now, and I'm using lots of lansinoh which is helping. DD seems to be a fastish feeder, on for about 10-15 minutes per breast, but taking a lot of milk, as I have quite large breasts.

Thing is, I was told BF babies didn't poo as much, but she seems to be pooing an awful lot, more than DS (who was FF). They're yellow, but seem slightly curdled. My MW said that it does take time for babies to learn how to digest lactose properly, so I'm possibly overreacting here, but is that relevant?

Today DD has done one utterly explosive nappy, and a few smaller ones. Is this within normal for a baby who is taking on a fair amount of milk, or something to worry about?

Sounds normal to me. DD1 pooed constantly as a newborn, DD2 only goes once a week (both breastfed). They're all different but I think the norm is for newborn bf babies to poo frequently but it becomes less frequebt as they get older.

That all sounds really normal. DS pooed for Britain when he was tiny.

Equally don't worry if when in a few days she hits a growth spurt and feeds even more than she is now, and you see no poos for days!

All normal

I am sure someone more expert than me will come along but it sounds very normal to me. I remember the colour as quite a mustard yellow sometimes even a but fluro (well in my DD)(but of course it can vary so much!!) and explosive poos are quite normal. From what I understand everything is travelling through their system quite fast therefore the explosion (but may but may be corrected on this). My DS did explosive poos for months was starting to get concerned but of course it settles down eventually. Also DS pooed after every feed however DD pooed once a day if that - so nothing is normal. Also I think the best thing for cracked nipples is air - so if you can I would go topless as much as you can!!

Also you are lucky DD is fast feeder(my DD was but DS took forever).

Hope this helps!
