Lop sided!

12 days into bfing and one boob is bigger than the other. Also the letdown is faster on the big side and baby ends up coughing and spluttering! He prefers the smaller side.

How do I even them up! Feed more from the big side or less?

I would just try to feed the same amount from each side, or else you are going to end up with engorgement on one side.

I am a bit lopsided too. Always had one boob bigger than the other and it has become a bit more noticable since i have been bfeeding.

You can always hand express a little from the bigger side so its easier for your baby to handle. Your supply won't have settled yet so you may find that in a few weeks your letdown is a bit slower anyway.

To even them up feed more from the small side to encourage it to produce more.

Thanks both. One is larger as had some engorgement already. Baby wasn't feeding well from that one but now is - but still can't get it down! It is not sore though so just hoping things will settle down as suggested shortly,

I would just carry on, I've always had one 'better' boob that seemed to let down better and have more milk.

In another couple of weeks your baby will get the hang of the stronger let down and be better at swallowing more milk at once

Thanks. It's a bit better today I think but still rather strange!
