I was just reading a thread from popsycal in july about breast feeding and returning to work. my ds was 2 months early and he starts nursery in 2 weeks. he doesnt take a bottle or sort of takes a cup. just wanted to know how you got on. he will be corrected age of 8 months when he goes. am dreading it really sad. if your out there. then it would be great to know you and your little one survived nursery

Hi donnacb, your ds is like mine then! He was 2 months prem too, wonder if it makes them stubborn! Well he will now take about 1oz at a time from the bottle from the girl in the creche. In the afternoons she mixes 100ml with Liga and gives it to him that way. One night a week I work late and he'll take about 2oz from the bottle from dh and then wait till I get home at 9.30! He is eating lots of solids now and I produce loads of EBM at work so I tend to make a lot of EBM rice-pudding! Probably not quite as nutritious as fresh EBM but at least I'm getting it in to him. He LOVES the creche! He has lots of company there and loves to be in on the action. Its always MUCH harder on the Mum than it is on the baby. He's my third baby and each and every time I've felt as though I were giving the baby up for adoption when putting them into childcare, but not one of them has ever been a bit upset about it. Bit insulting really, when you think about it! I'm sure you and your ds will be fine too, let me know how you get on, will be thinking about you!

Thanks for replying chipmonkey. Not sure how the expressings going to go. Does your ds drink from a cup during the day as well. My ds still isnt eating alot. Hes breat feeding at 8 and 1 just wondering if i go in my lunch hour etc to feed him if its not working. well 1st settling in day 2moro so will let you know how it goes. Wouldnt feel so bad if i new he would take from a cup or bottle. I work at the hospital and can just imagine them bringing him in with dehydration. mad arnt i. will let you know how it goes. thanks for typing donna

Thanks for the recipe on th eother thread will give that a go. do you take your own to the nursery or give it in the am. I dont know if i can produce enough milk and he wont take his cows milk free formula. he looks like hes going to puke as it touches his lips. It is disgusting. Oh whats liga. how old is your ds now. my ds has never left my side for more than 1 hour twice in his life apart from on the unit . But i suppose if im not around hell be fine it will be when he sees me hell probably give me hell. I suppose its got to happen so just try and enjoy my last few

I never express much on the days I'm feeding him but can express lots in work, I have a double electric pump, though, which is a godsend. I leave the milk in to the creche but only leave what I think he'll drink. No point in wasting it!

Liga is a kind of rusk/biscuit which you can give them to eat themselves when they're older but you can mush it down with milk when they're little. Not a big fan of it myself because it does contain sugar but its only 2-3 days a week anyway so shouldn't harm him!

1st settling in day was awful he cried for 75% of the time. Especially whenhe could see me. planning to recalculate work days i think we go again 2moro so will see howv that goes.

Donnacb, did you stay with him the whole time? Sometimes I think its better if you disappear, they can put on a bit of a show for their mum!

I did stay the whole time. Will try and leave for half an hour 2 moro. Its really hard. I never new i would feel this way
