Hi

I've been weaning my 9 mo DD onto a bottle over the past 2 months for when I go back to work. We've taken it slowly and dropped feeds at her pace and now she's very happy with her bottle. But tonight I'm in agony.

I last bfed 5 nights ago and have very little milk left but my left boob is really sore. Does anyone have any advice on how to help this soreness without feeding DD? I don't want to confuse her now she's so happy and content with a bottle.

Thanks

Can you express? Is it engorgement, or do you think you may have mastitis? Are there any red lines on your boob, or do you have a temperature/chills/fluey feeling?

If just engorgement, hot compress (as hot as you can bear, and then express from sore area (is there a lump you can feel?) towards nipple.

Sympathies though, sore boobs are just horrible

thanks for the advice - have got hot flannel on boob and am expressing.

Think I may have an infection as my milk is salty. Will keep on with the expressing and hopefully will clear
