breast feeder not sure about the expressed bottle?

my partner gives the odd bottle of expressed breast milk...how do you know when to change the teat? my little one sucks the milk down very fast so I am tempted to keep the slow flow, but she also has started fussing with the bottle so am not sure if she needs a different teat, age appropriate one..????

I'd keep going with the smallest teat possible for as long as possible in order to make the bottle teat most similar to the breast. I pumped for DD1 for 14 months and kept her on the 'newborn' size teat right up to the point that she transitioned fully from bottles (about 12 months I think?) DD2 is 5 months and although she has fewer bottles of EBM she's fine on newborn size teats too. For what it's worth, she's started to get fussier with the bottle recently - I think she's getting more distractible!

I agree with Frozen, make that baby work.

If she prefers the breast then that's no bad thing imho

My daughter gets one bottle of expressed milk a week (when she stays with her grandparents) and has had never had any problem taking it. She is 4 and a half months and i have kept her on the slow flow teat but this doesnt seem to hinder her feeding at all as her grandma assures me that she guzzles the bottle down very quickly.
I have heard that if the teat lets them get the milk too quickly then they might end up preferring the bottle to the breast.
