just wondering when your periods returned and if you had any warning signs...

6 months - round about when DS started solid food (I EBF for 6 months)

No warning signs - I don't get PMT and they're not painful. (tho am 28 weeks pregnant at the moment, and hoping they don't come back for another 9 months or so!)

DS is 7mo and still no period

missytequila · 15/07/2010 22:55

i am actually shocked at the wide variety of answers... there are no patterns?? so unpredictable...while many see a long break a blessing, I don't see it that way as I would like to conceive soon

After 5 sodding weeks

Fifilottie · 16/07/2010 08:15

Doesn't the mini pill affect this? I'm on this and was told that most women don't have periods when on this.

catwhiskers10 · 16/07/2010 09:45

I had lochia for 5 weeks after giving birth, had one week off then started the mini pill after my 6 week check at the GP. Periods returned almost immediately after this. So much for periods stopping while breastfeeding! I should be so lucky.

Ds has just turned a year and they've come back but much lighter, used to be awful. Still bfing though. Oh and had a mini one at 10 months after a few days away from bfing. Not ttc so am in the see it as a blessing camp

weasle · 17/07/2010 20:25

16 months, soon after ds started sleeping through the night.

4 months despite ebf. Since I had him much less painful though.

rowingcah · 17/07/2010 20:36

DD1: EBF for 3 months then mixed fed until nearly 6 months - period returned when DD1 was 10 months - ie nearly 5 months after I stopped BF.

DD2 EBF for 6 months - period returned at about 9 months, i.e. 3 momths after I stopped

DS EBF for 6 months and periods returned at 8 months i.e. 2 months after I stopped.

So the time after I stopped seemed to get shorter each time. No particular warning signs although with DD2 i suspected I was ovulating and sure enough 2 wks later had period and same with DS. If you are fairly aware of ovulation then you might see it coming.

All mine slept through the night from 8 - 12 weeks so that didn't seem to be a major factor for me.

DD1 - periods returned at 8 weeks. She was mainly bottlefed formula/exp.bm for first 8 weeks then ex.bfd until 26 weeks when she started solids. She weaned at 3.6 y/o.

DD2 - periods returned at 11 months. Only had 2 then was pg with DD3! DD2 was ex.bf until 23 weeks when she started solids and is nursing at 2.7 y/o. She night nursed until 16 m/o.

DD3 - no sign yet of periods and DD3 is 9 m/o. Ex.bf until 26 weeks. Still night nursing 2-3 times a night.

sparklycheerymummy · 18/07/2010 11:13

SparkyMalarky · 18/07/2010 11:21

10 months with DS, 9 with DD. Both times it happened within a few weeks of dropping the night feeds.
