Delayed let down

DS is now nearly 7mo and is on a mixture of finger foods and purees 3 times a day eating variable amounts. He's still otherwise BF for all his other feeds and hasn't noticeably dropped a feed yet. He has been feeding every 2 hours over night but last night when it was much cooler each feed was very brief before he fell back to sleep so I'm wondering if he was more thirsty than hungry.

Anyway, I'm finding that my letdown is taking longer and longer to happen and it's more noticeable when it does happen - pinching/needles type sensation behind the nipple which goes away after a few secs. Has anyone else found this? Is it because DS is now a bit older and is on solids or is there something else going on? Am not worried, just interested and a bit fed up on DS's behalf when he's suckling away for ages before he gets a result!
