By Ian McEwan - has anyone read this? Thinking of getting if for FIL as xmas present - did you like it?

Just finished it. I thought it was very good. Not his best.but also not as disturbing as some of his other work. The idea of rising sea levels turning the UK into an archipelago, with the Bodleian Library relocated to the Snowdonia, which is now an island, works well. Some echos of "The Drowned World", but rather more positive than Ballard.
