Book recommendation please - mystery novels/thrillers!

Which were your favourites? I'm trying to buy for a relative who enjoyed The Girl on the Train by Paula Hawkins and The Couple Next Door by Shari Lapena. I think he also enjoyed Agatha Christie novels back in the day. Ideally, nothing too difficult to read, as he has memory issues, but he loves a gripping page-turner nonetheless.

Ann Cleeves' novels are good. Vera, the TV series, is based on one of her characters.

Are all great thriller writers. I’d particularly recommend The death of Mrs Westerway by Ruth Ware and Follow You Home by Mark Edwards.

Strange Sally Diamond by Liz Nugent is excellent. Page turner with a thriller element but also a comic heart warming element too.

The last murder at the end of the world was my favourite book of last year :) a great mystery where almost every chapter reveals a new element to the puzzle.
