Book recommendation please!

I’m going on holiday in a few days and would love a book recommendation please.

I really like stories with twists. And stories / stories based on true stories. Something I won’t be able to put down! No fantasy or sci-fi thank you.

I’ve enjoyed books by Stephen Fry before. I honestly can’t remember what else I’ve read and really enjoyed, as if feels like forever ago that I last enjoyed a book (how sad).

Oh and the only other prerequisite is that I need to be able to buy it at an airport bookshop (LGW) so I guess probs something recent / popular.

THANKS IN ADVANCE!

Check out Lucinda Riley - The seven sisters.

I’ve just bought The Maidens after asking the sales lady in Waterstones much the same question.

Just read ‘The Serial Killers party’ and enjoyed it. Lots of twists in that.

Love the Seven Sister books mentioned above as well, plus Lucinda Riley’s stand alone books.

Lucinda Riley was one of my favourite authors. Very sad what happened but her wonderful novels are her legacy. If you like twists, I recommend Lisa Jewell, Will Dean and Frieda McFadden.

Poor Things - Alasdair Grey

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 08/11/2025 17:40

None Of This Is True - Lisa Jewell

or

Immaculate Conception by Ling Ling Huang

I always recommend American dirt by Jeanne cummins , its a very pacy page turner about a Mexican family escaping the cartel. I tire through it in 48hrs and on more than 1 occasion found myself holding my breath. Best book I've read
