We have a chocolate box assortment of little known gems, especially selected for Easter, that have all been nominated by Mumsnetters. Check out the bigger-than-usual selection here - and pick your favourite to be our April Book of the Month...

oh dear, I just looked - there are 5 votes, one for each of 5 books. I hope more voters come along!

PS. I bury my heart... I couldn't get through this, fell asleep
Love Medicine - probably the least engaging of Louise Erdrich's books. She's a star otherwise.

Notyummy · 20/03/2008 14:04

We need more votes people!!! Although my fav looks like it is losing already

SquonkForgotHerEasterName · 20/03/2008 14:07

voted.

Shouldn't this be a sticky?

Notyummy · 20/03/2008 15:10

Don't think the book club things are for some reason. There are sometimes 'adverts' on the main site page.

CocoDeBearisCocoDeBear · 21/03/2008 20:40

Have voted!

Interesting selection this month.

lynnm21 · 22/03/2008 17:33

How do I get to the voting page, sorry to be thick, but I'm new and I just can't seem to be able to vote.

sophiewd · 22/03/2008 17:35

right at the bottom of the selectins page is a small vote here link, click on that and it will take you to the voting page

lynnm21 · 22/03/2008 17:51

Thank you, I have just managed to work it - by opening my eyes! of course, thanks for the assistance though.
Very exciting as I think mine was a casting vote, at this stage anyway.

I'm sort of surprised this isn't more popular. I have wanted to join a book club for ages and an online one is perfect.

CocoDeBearisCocoDeBear · 24/03/2008 12:31

where are all the votes?

Notyummy · 24/03/2008 16:47

Less than a week to go till polls close..

Vote now..

CocoDeBearisCocoDeBear · 24/03/2008 18:01

I've borrowed the one I'm backing from the library. I'll read it either way!

TillyBookClub · 25/03/2008 11:53

hope everyone's ready for tonight's chat about The Diving Bell and the Butterfly - here's the link in case you haven't seen it.

We do need more votes - I offer up a half-eaten Bob and Builder marshmallow egg to the person who recruits the most converts...

Seriously, we would love everyone to bring a mate or tell another avid reader about the bookclub, let us know what you'd consider a suitable reward and we'll get working on it...

Fall on Your Knees got RAVE reviews on the other thread.

Notyummy · 26/03/2008 11:08

Bump!

TillyBookClub · 26/03/2008 12:40

Looks like Fall On Your Knees is in the lead, hotly pursued by Hallucinating Foucault. Keep voting...

CocoDeBearisCocoDeBear · 28/03/2008 08:56

oh no, it's the last day!

EachPeachPearMum · 28/03/2008 10:02

OMG- fall on your knees is just the most amazing book- it's classed as unsung???

McDreamy · 28/03/2008 12:42

I have just voted - for fall on your knees, looks like a popular choice but even if it doesn't win I think I will order and read it anyway!!!

TillyBookClub · 28/03/2008 19:52

Okay, am jumping gun a little because I'm in France and I can't relax about the time difference (and because French keyboards are co,pletely different layout - its taken me blooming hours to do this much)... but safe to say that our winner for April, by a long margin, is Fall on Your Knees by Ann-Marie Macdonald.

There are no square brackets on this computer so I cant link to buy right now, but click on the link at the beginning of the thread to get to the book - might be good to order soon as poss as this one is quite a meaty chunker of a book.

The discussion night will be Tuesday 29th April 8-10pm, looking forward to it...

Bought it. Why are we buying from Blackwells now, and not Amazon?

Is there a reason?
