Setting up a book group

Hi, I am thinking of starting a local book group but not sure how to start - I was thinking of just inviting people through a local Facebook group and just seeing if anyone is interested. Can anyone advise on what to do next - how often to meet, how many is a good number etc? Any advice gratefully received! Thanks!

I'm my experience of a couple of groups, I think it works well if you take it in turns to choose a book (ie don't try to agree a book or it takes for ever and there's always someone not happy). About once every six weeks works well as people like time to read other books too.
It works if whoever chose the book hosts and no one has to bring anything ( no drinks or nibbles), the host provides so you just take it in turns.
I think 6,7 or 8 is ideal.

Hi - thank you for replying. I have posted a notice on FB and it seems quite a few people want to join!
